10th International Society of Construction Law Conference, Istanbul (18-20 Oct 23)
The theme of the conference was "Winds of Change”, and it encompassed a diverse array of topics. From examining the evolving landscape of FIDIC forms of contract to delving into intricate delay analysis methodologies, the conference provided a comprehensive exploration of the industry's pressing issues. Sessions on time claims, access to justice, dispute financing, and dispute resolution mechanisms highlighted the need for agility and innovation in navigating complex legal and contractual frameworks.
Moreover, discussions on collaborative contracting, ESG integration, and sustainability underscored the industry's collective commitment to embracing change and driving positive transformation. Keynote speeches by industry leaders, including Sir Robert Akenhead and CICA Director General Fanny Dastugue, set an inspirational tone, emphasizing the importance of adaptability and collaboration in shaping the future of construction.
As part of the conference, the SCL Board Members’ leadership meeting was held, attended by SCL Singapore Council Member Sezgin Ozbilgin along with other representatives of societies from around the world. In addition to several key issues and updates presented by the SCL Board Members, SCL South Korea was selected to host the 11th International Society of Construction Law Conference in Seoul, based on the votes from the SCL representatives.
