About the Webinar:
The FIDIC Contracts Committee has recently announced the planned release of a suite of new contracts and related publications in early 2021. These planned publications include:
- A test edition of the new Bronze Book form of contract for use on brownfield sites;
- A revised edition of the Green Book
- A FIDIC Building Information Modelling (BIM) protocol; and
- New FIDIC guides for the 2017 Rainbow Suite editions of FIDIC's Red Book, Yellow Book and Silver Book contracts
Please join our distinguished speakers Ms Joanna Seetoh and Ms Yvonne Foo who will discuss the latest developments and updates in relation to FIDIC contracts, as well as gaze into the crystal ball and discuss the expectations for these upcoming publications. This is a must attend webinar for lawyers, consultants, developers, contractors and designers, and particularly those involved in the establishment of new projects that are considering the adoption of FIDIC forms of contracts
Webinar participants will be able to watch and listen to (via computer audio, recommended for security reasons, or telephone line) the video presentation and Q&A discussion on their screens, as well as participate in the Q&A discussion by sending in their questions to the moderator via text using the built-in Q&A function.
Immediately following the webinar, SCL(S) will host a virtual networking session. The session will be held via Zoom in groups of about 10 persons for about 20 - 30 minutes. Each group will be hosted by a member of Council. Each person in the group will be given the opportunity to introduce themselves and say who they are looking to make business connections with. All you will need to do to join is indicate in your attendance in your webinar registration.

About the Speakers:
Ms. Yvonne Foo – Partner, Harry Elias Partnership LLP, Singapore
Yvonne is a partner in the construction and engineering practice at Harry Elias Partnership LLP. She has extensive experience in advising international, regional and local clients on construction-related disputes relating to issues such as variations, claims for extensions of time, liquidated damages, termination, risk management and recently, COVID-related issues. Focusing exclusively on construction-related legal matters, Yvonne has advised on a wide range of projects including transport and other public infrastructure projects, residential and commercial real estate and property projects, industrial treatment plants and, oil and gas and other energy-related projects. Yvonne regularly advises on dispute resolution and dispute avoidance matters. She is highly experienced in various alternative dispute resolution mechanisms including arbitration, adjudication and mediation. Yvonne is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb), and also an associate mediator with the Singapore Mediation Centre. Having practised in both common law and civil law jurisdictions, Yvonne is well-placed to assist clients with complex international matters. Yvonne currently advises on matters in Singapore, South East Asia and the Middle East.
Ms. Joanna Seetoh – Associate Director, LVM Law Chambers LLC, Singapore
Joanna has more than 12 years of experience in commercial arbitration, litigation, and advisory work primarily in the infrastructure sector. She was amongst the inaugural batch of select practitioners to be appointed Accredited Specialist in Building and Construction Law by the Singapore Academy of Law, and has extensive experience representing both employers and contractors in large-scale infrastructure, engineering and construction disputes across a wide range of sectors including rail, integrated resorts, commercial and residential buildings, and power plant projects. Having lived and worked in Singapore and Hong Kong, Joanna has been consistently involved in a variety of international disputes, often with a multi-jurisdictional or cross-border angle. Her international practice has an especial focus on the FIDIC contract forms, which find increasing prevalence in the international construction industry and in projects financed by international development banks. Joanna is also a member of the Singapore Academy of Law Construction Law Protocol Working Group, and a Fellow of the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators.
About the Chairperson:
Mr. Ashok Kumar Rai – Senior Associate, Cairnhill Law LLC, Singapore; Assistant Honorary Treasurer, Society of Construction Law (Singapore)
Ashok is a seasoned construction litigator and qualified arbitrator. He has represented a wide spectrum of clients in the construction industry – from developers to main contractors and consultants. Ashok’s experience includes acting as lead counsel both in arbitrations under the ICC and SIAC rules and adjudications conducted under the Building and Construction Industry Security of Payment Act. Ashok is a Fellow of the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators and is currently serving as the Assistant Honorary Treasure in the Council of the Singapore chapter of the Society of Construction Law.
